Remember it is better to stay out of trouble than having to get your self out of trouble

Well yes and no is the answer ?
Learning a martial art does not mean you can now handle a street situation?  Let me tell you why with this analogy

Let us take a  clay pigeon shooter who is an excellent shot and has won many medals and contests.

Now let  say to this person go hunt me a dear to eat.? There should be no problems they are both shooting  aren’t they ?  On the face of it yes but when you look deeper nothing could be further from the truth. Why?

To hunt dear you need  the right information. You need  to know what species you are after, where lives, where it looks for food, what it dropping look like etc . And the end of the day could they pull the trigger.

So be realistic about martial arts, we are no longer fighting samaris on horse back and you don’t need to stand there for hours balancing bowls of rice on your head and arms. Does this mean you should not train in theses martial's? not at all  you should enjoy every minute of them.but look at them for what they are.

A structured course dealing with self protection should try to teach you how to stay out of trouble not just to defend your self. They should cover fear and why fear is important and how to use it. trusting your instincts.  What make you a victims, self defence and the law etc.
